Backyard Visitor - Baxter the Rabbit

Baxter - Rabbit Sitting in Clover with Blue and Green Stylized Podocarpus Leaves Above and Behind by Trae Mundt.

Do you enjoy backyard visitors? My family does. It's very fun to share short videos of four-legged or feathery yard guests.

For my family, this bunny is a frequent visitor.

I chose to paint this bunny both with cool and warm grays and browns. I added strokes of blue in his fur making sure I paid attention to the value of the colors.

Color value is the relative brightness of a color in comparison to other colors. The values of colors have to be close to each other to create a smooth velvety transition between the colors. Look at Baxter's ears to see how careful attention was taken to create a softness to his ears.

I love the stylized leaves painted in blues and greens. They show movement and bring a sense of style and serenity to the garden scene.

Do you have a favorite backyard visitor? Would you like to own a painting of your favorite backyard visitor? I welcome commissions. It's a fun process. Send me a message here.

We love this bunny.
