Francine - Light Beige Bear with Pink Orchid Headdress and Bear Paw Necklace - Bearie Blvd. Bears®

What do you notice about Francine? What do the details in her portrait tell you about her character? her interests? her likes? Special attention to these details allows me to convey a particular personality and mood in my subjects. Yes, a bear is a subject. 😊

When I'm painting or drawing a real person or bear it's really important to catch these details.

In my blog post titled Our Most Valuable Treasure I write about distractions, connection and seeing and loving the people around me. Am I seeing the details of my life? Am I taking in the good stuff around me? Am I allowing a past hurt to darken what I see?

I'm still learning how to slow down. I don't want to miss what's right in front of me. I want to pay careful attention, and when I do I'm able to enjoy my life and take in the good around me.

Back to Francine. Zoom in and look closely at her eyes. My goal was to convey sweetness and kindness. I think I met that goal.
