I live in Las Vegas. After surviving my first summer with the record breaking heat I wondered what types of flowers thrive in this environment?
Our landscape designer recommended the orange jubilee bells, the yellow bells and the easy growing lantana. He was right! Our back yard is full of these colorful flowers.
It was early morning when I went out to clip these beauties. I arranged them just like you see here. This is a highly textured piece. The flower petals are created with quick stroke from my palette knife. It's important to have a light touch. Too much pressure will create shapes you don't want. Look how the flowers are framed. The textured serene greens move from light to dark effortlessly.
I'm so glad I painted them.
