Buddy - White Bear at Beach with his Orange Surfboard wearing Blue Hawaiian Hibiscus Swim Trunks - Bearie Blvd. Bears®
I've painted a bear paw in every Bearie Blvd. Bears® painting. In some paintings the bear paw is subtle and difficult to find. In others, the bear paw is obvious. In this painting the bear paw is VERY obvious.
Before I started painting I knew I wanted a very big bear paw on the surfboard. I knew I wanted Buddy standing in the sand near the water's edge. The ocean would need to be painted in shades of blue mixed with shades of green, and the sand needed to be the typical color of sand with a few artistic twists.
With all this information why do you think I chose to paint Buddy's surfboard a very bright red-orange? This is the moment we grab our color wheels. Complementary is one of the harmonious color schemes. The complementary colors to the blues and blue-greens are red-orange and orange. Painting the surfboard in different values of red-orange makes it stand out. Perfect!
I've seen some bright surfboards. I wanted Buddy to have a special surfboard. I can hear Buddy telling me "your golden."
