Sweet Adaline
Posted by Trae Mundt on
Drawing Adaline's portrait was a joy! She so adorable! She's the great-granddaughter of a dear friend of mine.
I started this portrait with a line drawing. At this beginning stage, I used my graphite pencil. Over the years my process has changed. I now spend a good amount of time at the beginning of the drawing to make sure my measurements are accurate. This works for me.
Then I began to add charcoal. I like General's charcoal pencils and Winsor and Newton's vine and willow charcoal sticks. The pencils help me to make detailed marks. I used the sticks for placing shapes, filling in shapes, and adding shading.
With this portrait, it's all about her cuteness. Look at her bow! I love it.

I love hearing your thoughts and comments.
