Are you able to zoom in to see the details of the trumpet and shako (hat)?

Sometimes the smallest objects in the painting are the most challenging. And, the goal is to paint them with very few strokes. It took some time and trial and error (wiped off the paint and started again) before the trumpet worked for me. The lines are simple and beautiful. The shako plumes needed to be sized correctly and the colors needed to complement his uniform.

This was a challenging and rewarding painting for me. Joey and I are good friends!
