With or Without You - Oil on Canvas 12 x 16 x 1.5
A fantastic painter encouraged me to add more details to the backgrounds of my painted portraits.
For With or Without You, I began with a sage-green background. You can see I used tones of that green for the subtle shadows on her skin.
After painting her hair, I changed the colors in the background to tones in her hair and skin.
