Tennessee State Flower - The Iris
Under Title 4, Chapter 1, Part 3, Section 4-1-307 the Tennessee Code reads "The iris, family iridaceae, is designated as the state cultivated flower." The legislature did not pick a specific color. Throughout the state, people accept the purple iris as their state flower.
I love the pen work in this botanical illustration. Every stroke is important and conveys a specific color. Look closely, and you'll see numerous tones of blues, purples, grays, and greens.
