New Jersey State Flower - The Violet
The common meadow violet is the state flower of New Jersey.
The beautiful blossoms are purple. They are five-petaled. Look closely to see how the purple petals turn to very light yellow with deep purple lines (venation). The leaves are heart-shaped and grow from the base of the plant.
Fun Floral Fact - The violet is stemless.
