Kansas State Flower - The Wild Native Sunflower

During my research, I learned the sunflower is a large inflorescence. This means the sunflower is a grouping of many smaller flowers. Ray florets are the yellow petals. Disk florets are in the center of the sunflower.

When you look closely in the center of my sunflower you'll see many short pen strokes creating the disk florets. The long lines in the yellow ray florets create shadow and form.

It's all about the lines with my water-based markers.
